Our Programs

The Elisha Foundation exists to provide encouragement, edification, restoration and healing to families of people with special needs.  The building up of these families is our focus.

Special Needs Children
The vehicle for this endeavor is a family resource retreat, structured time of loving encouragement, specific resources, edification, family intimacy and intimacy with our Creator. Each guest family will attend the retreat for a minimal suggested donation. Funding will be provided for families unable to donate. Every effort is made to insure that no eligible families are denied access to the retreat due to financial reasons.

A staff experienced with disabled persons consisting of college students, families, church workers and other interested parties will serve the needs of the guests. This time will include various medical professionals donating their field expertise for guests, such as physical therapists, speech therapists, orthodists and general practitioners. A special speaker will be a vital part of the retreat, ranging in experience from disability resource to those who share intimately involved with a disability.

The retreat will consist of various resource experts, special speakers, musicians and medical experts specific to the needs of each retreat. Each specialist and speaker will perform work shops for the guests and are available around the clock for any needs. A well balanced and limited set of activities for the entire group of guests as well as for the individual families will be focused and productive. Additionally, time for parents to retreat alone will be accommodated and encouraged. Through the focus of our staff and the combined experiences of the attendees, each family will gain new insights and refreshment to live life anew.

The seclusion and privacy of precious one on one time with family and with God Almighty coupled with the environment of restoration and encouragement will be conducive to personal and familial growth leading to a better understanding of ones own personal circumstance and how to use it to God’s greater glory. With an emphasis on family we seek to strengthen the foundation of family. This uniquely caring and intimate setting will deepen the experience for each attending family encouraging and equipping them with a new vigor for life and contentment therein.

Resources

The Elisha Foundation will be pursuing integration of various resources to provide to families with special needs children. Resources such as advocacy training, educational consultation and some level of children and family counseling through local relationships. Parents are in great need of encouragement in seeking what is best for their child's development and at times need someone to help them make it over that next bump in the road for their child, advocacy education and training can be of great help to them in this. Additionally, we recognize the unique needs of siblings of a special needs child and are working on ways to provide activities and encouragement to them.
